Course Description
The 49th Amendment to the IFRA Code of Practice introduces radical changes to the science behind fragrance safety and impacts the documentation of every fragrance in use.

This 90 minute accredited training course will describe the importance of the new fragrance safety guidelines. This course will consider the major concepts underlying the development of the 49th Amendment: the Criteria II paper, decision tree reasoning, read-across, in silico, TTC, DST, aggregate exposure, and the new product categories. This course is a must-attend for anyone wishing to understand the modern science of fragrance safety.

Steve Herman is President of Diffusion LLC, a consulting firm specializing in regulatory issues, intellectual property, and technology development. He has been an Adjunct Professor in the FDU Cosmetic Science Program since 1993, teaching the Cosmetic Formulation Lab and Perfumery. Steve was a columnist for GCI Magazine for 17 years and has written a book, Fragrance Applications: A Survival Guide. His SCC activities include service as Chairman of the NY Chapter in 1992 and 2013, election to Fellow status in 2002, and instructor in the Continuing Education Program.
