Series Description:
This series of 3 online classes is aimed to provide key fundamental basic knowledge in skin biochemistry; “Skin Biology 101”. The first class will look into definition of key words, skin structure and function, major cells and components. The second class will described the structure of genes, meaning of expression, definition and role of cytokines, enzymes and receptors. The third class will explain the role of water in skin, its bonding to other molecules and the importance of proper moisturization.

This is a 3-part series. To receive the maximum benefit from this training, the course director recommends that participants attend all three sessions. However, each session may also be taken individually should one specific area of this Skin Biochemistry series match your training needs.

Part 3 Course Description: This session will inspect the location, organization and role of water in the skin. It will describe the water gradient and its importance. The main water compartmentalization entities in the living epidermis, the aquaporines, will be examined as well as recent research findings that are related. The last module will explain the role of moisture in the skin and will attempt to examine the need for a proper moisture balance.
