Filtration Two: Expression, Media, Pretreatment, Operating Tips
September 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. (ET)
90 Minute Accredited Online Training

Who Should Attend
Engineers and scientists who are employed by the chemical, pharmaceutical and biochemical industries and who are involved with filtration would benefit from this course. The novice will be quickly brought "up to speed" and the expert will be exposed to a detailed review of the subjects.

Engineers involved with solids, solids processing, size reduction, mining, specialty chemical manufacturing, reactors & pilot plants, process and project design and waste processing and waste minimization should attend. Engineers involved with plant operations and maintenance should consider the course.

Typical job titles of those who should attend include: Process chemist, Agricultural engineer, Project engineer, Food technologist, Process engineer, Manufacturing engineer, Mechanical engineer, Maintenance engineer, Mining engineer, Chemical engineer, Research engineer, Paper engineer.

Applications areas for this seminar include: Solid-Liquid Separations, Mining and Ore Production, Chemical Reactor Design, Pilot Plant Studies, Design and Scaleup, Specialty Chemical Production, Pharmaceutical Production, Paint & Pigment Industries, Size Reduction and Ceramics & Cement Industries.

Description
This is a 2-part series. To receive the maximum benefit from this training, the course director recommends that participants attend both sessions. However, each session may also be taken individually should one specific area of this filtration series match your training needs.

Emphasis is placed on practical advice of filtration and testing, expression, various types of expression equipment, filter media and pretreatments Discussions will include filter media classifications, permeability, selection and particle distribution. Details of pretreatments to be address include issues such as coagulation, flocculation, colloid stability, and filter aids.

Your particular filtration questions are welcome and encouraged during the ending question and answer session.
