Dr. James H. Gary; Professor Emeritus, Colorado School of Mines
Dr. James H. Gary is Professor Emeritus of Chemical and
Petroleum Refining Engineering at the Colorado School of
Mines. Previously, he was Head of the Department of
Chemical and Petroleum-Refining Engineering, Dean of Faculty
and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Gary has over
thirty publications in technical journals and is co-author with
G.E. Handwerk, of the book Petroleum Refining—Technology
and Economics. He worked six years for The Standard Oil
Company, holds several patents in fuels and fuels processing
and has consulted for a number of petroleum companies. Dr.
Gary received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Florida
and the M.S. and B.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering from
Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He is a Fellow of the American
Institute of Chemical Engineers and of the American
Association for the Advancement of Science and is a member
of the American Chemical Society.
