Daniel K. Brannan, Ph.D.; Professor of Biology, Abilene Christian University

Daniel K. Brannan, Ph.D., is Professor of Biology at Abilene Christian University (ACU). He worked seven years in industry and he served as a consultant for dozens of cosmetic and drug companies both nationally and internationally for an additional fifteen years.

Dr. Brannan obtained a B.Sc. in biology in 1975 (Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of New Mexico, his M.Sc. in microbiology in 1977 from Ohio State University and his doctorate in biology in 1981 from the University of New Mexico. He worked for the Procter & Gamble Company from 1981-88 and has taught at ACU since 1988.

Dr. Brannan served on the Cosmetic, Toiletries and Fragrance Association Methodology and Microbiology Committees from1983-87 and on the U.S. Pharmacopeial Microbiology Advisory Panel on Microbiological Control from 1990-95. An editor for the Journal of Cosmetic Science, Dr. Brannan is also a member of the FDA’s Technical Advisory Board.

Philip Geis, Ph.D.; Section Head, Procter & Gamble Company

Philip Geis, Ph.D., earned his bachelor and doctor of philosophy degrees in microbiology from the University of Texas. He is a section head with The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) in Cincinnati with responsibilities for global microbiology of that company's Beauty Care Division. Dr. Geis joined P&G in 1981 as a divisional microbiologist for the development of preservatives and disinfectants and the study of applied microbiology and skin microbial ecology. He has a broad perspective of working in diverse regulatory and environmental affairs issues, product development and formulation concerns, and manufacturing and product quality arenas. He has published and lectured on microbiological and environmental subjects and served as an associate editor for the Society for Industrial Microbiology News.
