29 September -1 October 2008
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Dr. Eldridge Mount III; Independent Consultant, Emmount Technologies, LLC
Dr. Eldridge Mount III has worked in polymer processing for
30 years and is a well known and respected expert in
coextrusion and extrusion system design and specification. He
is well versed in a wide range of coextrusion processes and
equipment, coextrusion and extrusion process stability and
troubleshooting, coextruded polymer film design, and
production, high barrier metallized films, and film and polymer
orientation. He received a masters and Ph.D. in Chemical
Engineering from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute for an
experimental and modeling study of the extrusion melting
process. From 1978 to 2000 he worked for ICI Americas and
ExxonMobil films division in the coextrusion and biaxial
orientation of polyester, polypropylene, polyethylenes, nylon
and other polymers. Dr. Mount has developed optimum screw
designs and coextrusion systems for high capacity coextruded
film manufacture. He invented and developed many
coextruded films and is expert in coextrusion flow stability and
troubleshooting of coextrusion process and equipment. His
work has always been directed for implementation into a
manufacturing environment.
Since 2000 Dr. Mount has been an independent consultant in
the area of coextrusion, extrusion, oriented products, film
design and manufacturing and metallized film products. In
addition, he measures rheological properties of polymer melts
for use in coextrusion die and screw designs for leading
equipment designers and manufacturers. He has presented
many papers on extrusion, coextrusion, film design and
production and film metallization and high barrier film properties
and has taught many industrial courses in these areas. A
member of SPE since 1976, he is a Fellow and Honored
Service member and has served on of the Extrusion Board of
Directors since 1982, as SPE VP from 2001-2004. He is an
active member of TAPPI, a member of the Society of
Rheology, the Society of Vacuum Coaters and is the AIMCAL
Metallization Consultant.
