Ronald A. Pepin, Ph.D.; Senior Vice President Business Development, Medarex, Inc.
Dr. Ronald A. Pepin is Sr. V. P., Business Development at
Medarex, Inc. a biopharmaceutical company focused on
treating human diseases by generating fully human monoclonal
antibody drugs in their proprietary HuMabmouse.
Dr. Pepin received his B.A. degree in biology at Tufts
University and his Ph.D. in genetics from Georgetown
University. His thesis research involved a novel bacterial cell
fusion system to study gene expression.
Dr. Pepin was a postdoctoral research associate at the
Banting and Best Department of Medical Research at the
University of Toronto during which time he constructed
plasmids to study protein biosynthesis. He was a postdoctoral
fellow in the Department of Biochemistry at Case Western
Reserve University where he succeeded in cloning the four
catalytic components of the human pyruvate dehydrogenase
complex. He has served as the Manager of Molecular
Genetics at Interferon Sciences, Inc., and has set up and
directed the research in other biotechnology companies.
Dr. Pepin is also on the board of the Biotech Council of New
Jersey. He was previously the Executive Director of External
Science and Technology at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company
where he was involved in forging Bristol-Myers Squibb’s
alliances with Medarex, lxsys, Cadus, Agracetus, Seq,
Somatix, Genzyme Transgenics, Xenova, Incyte, and several
other pharmaceutical companies.
