Overcoming the Challenges to Transdermal Drug Delivery Development–An Introduction
Pre-recorded Course
FREE On-Demand Webinar
Who Should Attend
This FREE webinar is intended for individuals in pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies that are interested in learning or in updating their
knowledge with regards to the skin as a biological organ and a barrier to overcome when delivering drugs to the circulation, challenges and
advantages of transdermal drug delivery:
• Research and Development
• Applications and formulations
• QC/QA
• Sales and marketing
Although not the primary focus, professionals in the medical device industry who are involved in transdermal device development will also find
the course beneficial.
Description
This introductory webinar is designed to provide basic understanding in design and development of transdermal delivery systems. The delivery
of drugs applied to the skin into the systemic circulation is a challenge, not only because the skin presents an excellent barrier, but also,
because it is difficult to control the amount delivered per period of time. Moreover, when overcoming the barrier, adverse reactions such as
irritation, itch and discomfort may occur. This webinar will explain what makes the skin an excellent physical and biological barrier. It will review in
brief the possible paths in the skin for the penetration of drugs, advantages and limitations of transdermal systems, methods to measure and
evaluate skin absorption and the adverse effects to the skin that result from the patch application.
