Description
The connection between one's psychological/emotional condition and his physical state is well known. Still, only very little is explored in terms of understanding the biochemical changes upon stress that cascade to a diseased/disordered circumstance. It was found that many of biochemical markers expressed in stress, lead to inflammation in the entire body and may be visualized as alterations in skin condition.
In addition, past decade research shows that the upper layer of the skin, the stratum corneum, holds a major role in skin immunity as the first line of defense against pathogenic insult. Psychological condition can attenuate skin innate immunity.
This 90-minute accredited online course will define factors involved in skin innate immunity and review recent findings on the connection between psychological stressful situations, and exacerbation of inflammatory skin disorders such as acne, psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.
