Description
This course is designed to further the skills in application and equipment selection for process development to improve manufacturing and efficient production of coated papers, films, foils and some non-wovens. Three major topics are covered: • Unwinding, winding and web handling • Coating of webs by various processes • Drying or curing of these coated substrates. The course provides an understanding of the advantages of using one coating and drying process over another. All major coating processes used today are discussed along with their benefits for use in specific manufacturing applications, while considering the raw materials used to produce finished product. All major forms of convective and radiant methods of heat transfer for drying and/or curing will be presented. The program will lead to a better understanding of proper selection and specification of new equipment. It will benefit those who wish to improve runnability, production and efficiency of existing systems.
